OpenStack
OpenStack: sixteen components, one platform.
Each OpenStack component is contracted separately, so you pay for what you run: from a minimal compute cloud to bare metal, DNS and load balancing. All of them share one platform that we deploy once for the whole environment.
One platform underneath
- Control services run redundantly on at least three controller servers; compute and storage nodes scale to your specification
- Every API is published through a proxy with TLS termination
- Monitoring with Prometheus, Alertmanager and Grafana; central logging with Fluentd and OpenSearch, or Loki or the ELK stack if you prefer
Your own build of the source
OpenStack is deployed from a dedicated container registry. A dedicated git repository holds the source; we test each new upstream release, merge your patches forward and push fixes upstream. Nothing proprietary sits between you and the project, and a new major version is deployed at least once a year.

Dependencies between them are set out in the catalogue. Keystone is the base of all the others, Nova needs Placement, Neutron and Glance, and Ceph is the default storage backend for Cinder, Glance and Gnocchi.

And Ceph beside it
Ceph is a separate platform with no dependency on OpenStack: block (RBD), object (S3 and Swift) and file (CephFS) storage on commodity servers, deployed by cephadm and made redundant by replication or erasure coding. It also serves persistent volumes to Kubernetes through Ceph CSI.

OpenStack is set up or taken over, accepted and operated under the same terms and response times as every other platform we operate.
